Frequently asked questions and answers

 

Q)    Is there are bus service between Aviemore and the ski slopes?
A)     Yes, there is a bus service which departs from Aviemore Railway Station every 40 minutes, starting at 7.55.am.  It’s a direct service to the ski slopes and a return journey costs £4 per person per day.  The Railway Station is 5 minutes walk from our Aviemore hotels.

Q)    Is there a bus service between Newtonmore and the ski slopes?
A)     The Highlander Hotel, our best deal hotel, is 15 minutes south of Aviemore and there is no public transport to the ski slopes.  Own car/car hire is the only option when staying here.
       Ski resort 30 /35 minutes drive.

Q)    Is there any accommodation on the mountain?
A)     There is no accommodation actually on the mountain, the closest hotels are those based in Aviemore centre.
  
Q)    How far are the ski slopes from Aviemore?
A)     The ski slopes are 15-20 minutes drive from Aviemore centre.

Q)    Is there free parking on the mountain?
A)     Yes, there is free public parking on the mountain.

Q)    Will the mountain roads be clear of snow?
A)     The snowploughs work to clear the snow off the roads, each day from first light.  No-one is allowed to drive to the mountain until the roads are cleared.

Snow chains/snow socks/snow tyres are advisable but not compulsory

Q)    What the other activities are there in the area?
A)     Aviemore leisure complex has swimming, gym and soft play options and further afield there is quad biking, mountain biking, dog-sledding, walking, climbing etc.

Q) What if I can’t get to the resort because of adverse weather conditions?
A) In the event that you were unable to reach resort due to adverse weather conditions, under our booking conditions you would not be due a refund. However, we would allow you to transfer your booking to another date (same package) at any time during the remainder of the current season
