Ski Cairngorm
The Cairngorm Mountain celebrated 40 years as Scotland's premier snow sport resort 3 years ago with the opening of the Funicular Mountain Railway, a modern high speed funicular, which provides comfortable access to the top station some 1,100 metres above sea level and just below the summit of Cairngorm. It is the first high speed funicular in the UK and transports up to 1,200 skiers and boarders per hour from the car park level at 610 metres above sea level to the Ptarmigan close to the summit of Cairngorm. At full speed, the 2km journey takes just 5/6 minutes ensuring quick and easy access to the mountaintop and the higher nursery slopes.
The spectacular new Ptarmigan mountain restaurant and bar - the highest in the UK! accommodates 250 persons comfortably and together with the Mountain
Exhibition and a well stocked shop offer excellent facilities at the top of the mountain. In addition, the T bar licensed Cafe in the Day Lodge at Base Station and the Sheiling Cafe at Mid Station service the ski area well.
Skiing on Cairngorm Mountain
Facilities for skiers and snowboarders are excellent at the Cairngorm Ski Resort
A group of skiers await the Cairngorm Mountain railway, or 'furnicular'.
The Cairngorm snow area covers 598 hectares and offers excellent skiing and boarding for everyone from beginners to experts alike, there are nursery areas both on the lower slopes and on the large plateaux at the top of the funicular. Intermediates are well catered for with a variety of pistes spread over the two linked coires that form the snow area.

Advanced skiers and boarders will enjoy the East and West walls and the Ciste Gully. If moguls are your passion then the White Lady Bumps take some beating or why not try the challenging M1 run. As fast as its name implies, offers an exhilarating challenge.
