Thankfully, the Cairngorms National Park is easy to reach whether you’re travelling by car, bus, train or even from further afield via plane.

For most visitors, travelling by road will be fine. Most of the journey is by motorway and the main A9 trunk road takes you into Aviemore. Main roads are generally kept well clear of snow but it is always prudent to carry a shovel in the boot. Travelling around by private car offers more flexibility and there is free car parking on the mountain.

Inverness Airport is 30 minutes drive to Aviemore 45 minutes to Newtonmore Glasgow and Edinburgh Airports are 2 hrs drive to Newtonmore 2hr 15 m to Aviemore Aberdeen Airport is 2 hrs drive to Aviemore.

How far are the ski slopes from Aviemore?

The ski slopes are 15-20 minutes drive from Aviemore centre.

Is there free parking on the mountain?

Yes, there is free public parking on the mountain.

Is there a bus service between Aviemore and the ski slopes?

Yes, there is a bus service which departs from Aviemore Railway Station It’s a direct service to the ski slopes and a return journey costs £6 per person per day. The Railway Station is 5 minutes walk from our Aviemore hotels.

Is there a bus service between Newtonmore and the ski slopes?

The Highlander Hotel, our best deal hotel, is 15 minutes south of Aviemore and there is no public transport to the ski slopes. Own car/car hire is the only option when staying here. Ski resort is a 30 minutes drive..

Is there any accommodation on the mountain?

There is no accommodation actually on the mountain, the closest hotels are those based in Aviemore centre.

What is the snow forecast

Will the mountain roads be clear of snow

The snowploughs work to clear the snow off the roads, each day from first light. No-one is allowed to drive to the mountain until the roads are cleared.

What if I can’t get to the resort because of adverse weather conditions

In the event that you were unable to reach resort due to adverse weather conditions, under our booking conditions you would not be due a refund. However, we would allow you to transfer your booking to another date (same package) at any time during the remainder of the current season.

What the other activities are there in the area

Aviemore leisure complex has swimming, gym and soft play options. It also hosts a cinema, shopping mall and outdoor play area. Close to Aviemore there is quad biking, mountain biking, Archery, Zip park and much more..
